What Colonela is

Colonela is a secure workspace that helps individuals and companies affected by (mainly economic) criminal proceedings build, run and defend their case — evidence, roles, statements and a timeline in one place. The operator is DAOUBO DAO, LLC (a limited liability company under the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA). Under § 1 of Czech Act No. 85/1996 Sb. on the legal profession, Colonela is a technical tool of the client: it does not provide legal services or legal advice and does not replace an attorney. All procedural decisions are made by you together with your defence counsel.

Who may use the service

The service may be used by adults (18+) with legal capacity and by companies represented by an authorised person. To create an account you need a valid email and a verified BlockID identity. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you provide, for your credentials, and for all activity on your account. Within the twelve roles, you may share access only with people you trust.

Description of the service and its limits

Colonela provides encrypted case storage, organisation of evidence and events, a timeline, verified identity and signatures (BlockID, eIDAS QES), tamper-proof time records and an assistive AI agent. The service helps you understand your own case and prepare materials, but it does not guarantee any particular outcome of the proceedings and does not replace professional legal work. Some features may be available only in certain tiers.

Nature of the AI agent

The AI agent is assistive only. It helps with drafting, organising, explaining and giving an overview, but it never decides and never replaces an attorney. It presents every output as a proposal to review and consult on. There is always human oversight of the agent and no solely automated decision-making with legal effect. The agent's ethical rules cannot be bypassed by any prompt: it never helps falsify or destroy evidence or lie, never gives legal advice as an attorney (always a proposal to consult), never discloses case content outside your space, and if it detects signs of crisis it does not continue without offering human help and crisis resources.

Prohibited conduct

You use the service lawfully and in line with these terms. It is expressly prohibited to use Colonela to falsify, alter or destroy evidence, to obstruct criminal proceedings, to intimidate witnesses, to gain unauthorised access to others' data, to spread malicious code, or for any other unlawful activity. Circumventing the service's security and ethical mechanisms is also prohibited. A breach may lead to restriction or closure of your account.

Encryption and confidentiality

Content is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you control access to individual parts of the case file through roles with compartmentalised access. We never use case content to train AI and never disclose it outside your space. End-to-end encryption on the user's device (zero-knowledge) and 3-of-5 key recovery are in development and are not active in this version of the service.

Your content

All content you put into Colonela remains your property. We claim no rights to it beyond what is necessary to provide the service to you technically (storing, encrypting, displaying and syncing your content across your devices). We do not use this limited operational licence for anything else. You are responsible for having the right to put the content into the service.

Pricing and payment

The Solo, Team and Multi (multiple defendants) tiers come with 3 days free to try; the firm tier has no trial. After the trial ends, a paid subscription continues with monthly or yearly billing. You can cancel at any time; the service then runs until the end of the paid period. There is no lock-in — you can export your data and leave at any time. We always announce prices and any changes to them in advance.

Availability and maintenance

We strive for high availability and reliable operation, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". Occasionally planned maintenance may be necessary, which we try to announce in advance. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, and above all we do not guarantee any particular outcome of your criminal proceedings — that depends on many circumstances outside the service.

Limitation of liability

Colonela is a technical tool. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the outcome of criminal proceedings or for legal decisions you or your attorney make based on work in the service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damage. This does not affect your consumer rights or liability that cannot be excluded by law (in particular for intent and gross negligence and for harm to health). For specific procedural steps we recommend working with an attorney.

Termination and data export

You can close your account at any time. We may restrict or end access in case of a serious breach of these terms, in particular abuse under the prohibited-conduct section. Before and after termination (within a reasonable period) you can export your data in a readable format. After that period we delete or anonymise the data, unless a legal obligation prevents it.

Governing law and disputes

These terms and the relationship between you and the operator are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. We will first try to resolve any dispute amicably; if that fails, the courts of the Czech Republic have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also turn to the competent body for out-of-court dispute resolution. This choice of law does not deprive a consumer of protection under the mandatory rules of their state.

Changes to the terms

We may update the terms, for example when the service expands or the law changes. We will inform you of material changes in advance, in the app or by email, and state the effective date. If you do not agree with the changes, you can stop using the service and close your account. By continuing to use it after the changes take effect, you agree to the current version.
